Doctor Lewis is originally from Minas Gerais in Brazil. She studied at the University of Uberaba, receiving her first dental degree in 1996. After working in orthodontics for a short time in her home country, she came to the United States to live and practice in Florida. In 2010, she received the American DMD degree from Nova Southeastern University while being licensed to practice in both Florida and Georgia. She has studied additionally at the prestigious Mondelli Institute for orthodontics at the University of Bauru. Her interest is in fixed functional appliance therapy in the transitional dentition, as well as traditional appliance therapy for adolescent and adult orthodontic patients.

Doctor Barfield was born and raised in the southeastern US. He graduated from Roanoke College in Salem, Va. and earned the DDS degree from The University of North Carolina in 1990. Dr. Barfield completed a general practice residency in dentistry at USAF Hospital Barksdale AFB while serving in the United States Air Force. He practiced family and cosmetic dentistry in Salem, Va. for 14 years before returning to The University of Nevada to obtain the certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. Doctor Barfield is American Board of Orthodontics board eligible, having completed phase one of the multi-year examination. He completed original research investigating the acceptance and use of three dimensional computed tomography in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. His interests are complex multidisciplinary orthodontic cases, and digital technologies in orthodontics and dentistry.
